Hi guys. I posted a little while ago about issues that arose after a low oil incident I had. First I thought it was air in my rails. Then it was cps. The truck went from consistently starting and missing under load to a crank no start. Ithink I've narrowed it down now and it is cps related. Somewhere near the pcm my harness is chafed. I can start the truck if someone wiggles harness right next to the pcm connector. Otherwise, the tach doesn't move and the truck just cranks.
I'm not sure how to tackle this. Do I need to remove the fusebox? Does the section of harness that plugs into the pcm plug into the 42 pin connector on the other side. Anyone have any tips or insight on this?
I'd suggest starting to pull back the tape and protection to find the broken or chaffed wire.
thanks for the reply. I pulled everything in there apart and didn't see any broken or chafed wires. There's no continuity from the 42pin to the pcm plug for the cps signal return. My pcm connector is missing some locking tabs on the back where the wires feed into it though and the middle of it was pushed out. The problem wire is in the middle of the connector. Could that be my problem?
Sounds like there are one or more pin fitment issues within the connector. Can you verify that all the wires are seating properly in the connector?
I pulled on them and they all seemed to fit pretty tightly. I looked up how to depin it so I'm gonna take the two cps wires out and look at the pins I guess.
