hey so on my 1992 f250 7.3 the speedometer doesn't work properly it goes back and forth about 20 mph difference constantly so I never know how fast I'm truly going. what is the most likely cause of this? and is it hard to fix? Thanks!
This is one of those problems where it's easier to throw a part at it than diagnose it.
on the rear axle housing, on top the center section, there's a black sensor with 1 harness connection and 1 10mm screw holding it on. That's the vehicle speed sensor. Replacement sensors are about $20, or cheaper if you get it from rock auto.
If you change that sensor out and you're still having problems, then you'll need to use a multimeter and find where the high resistance/problem is coming from.
