Hello guys! My 17’ F450 have the dpf filter clogged and the truck don’t regenerate it no more and I’m trying to see what options I have. Everybody suggested to delete it but I like to keep it running as it should. A new DPF cost like $4500 plus labor and of course any sensor going bad etc, it will reach 7 or 8 grands in no time. The third option my mechanic offer me are remove it and make it “bake”. Seems like they put it in a big oven and clean it.
What you guys think about that? Do someone try to bake it and it work?
Thank you in advance

If you delete it, the EPA might catch you and give you a big fine.
Don't worry, drug dealers and theives will be let go immediately and not prosecuted.
But you will be held accountable and fined heavily....its just how it is. Don't ask questions.
One option is to buy a 7.3L Godzilla and be done with the reliability killing EPA mandated add ones.
What is the labor quote to replace it? I can't see it being more than a few hundred, depending on shop rate. Used is an option and costs about half of what new does, but could last half as long. It's a tough decision, not a small chunk of change.
I suppose instead of spending something like $6k to fix your 450, you could do as suggested above and buy a 7.3l SD (it will have to be a 350)...that will only cost you, what $60k? Lol
There are companies that can bake the DPF and clean them out, that's a real thing. But you have to figure out why it clogged to begin with and resolve the issue. That could be a whole can of worms on it's own. Can you do an operator commanded regen? You can enable this feature using ForScan and force the truck to regen while stationary and burn out the DPF. A dealer should be able to do that for you also unless the DPF is just completely clogged and you're beyond that point.
These guys bake the DPF to clean it out. They have locations in a few U.S. cities. I've never used them and this is not an endorsement. I'm sure there are other companies providing a similar service.

You must leave the truck idling a LOT to kill the DPF in only 110K miles!
What trouble codes are showing when you scan the pcm?
Yes, this is a Bucket truck so she spend hours and hours while I’m in the bucket 🤷🏻♂️
Well, then replacing the dpf or cleaning it will only mean you'll be doing it again, and it won't last as long the next time before you'll have to do it again.
Yeah, having the operator commanded regeneration turned on would help, but you still have to keep after it even with that.

I would suggest then to get the dpf cleaned up, sell the truck and get a gas truck. Even with manual regen and high idle the newer diesels really hate idling, and it’s not just a powerstroke thing either, newer Cummins are just as problematic with their emissions.
