Man, this place has really gone downhill. Don’t waste your money sending anything to Graves. They aren’t putting out the quality they were 20 years ago.
I sent a few pieces off to them a few months ago. Took them forever to get them done and the quality is really crap.
Just a heads up.
Dont go blaming the place that did the plating so fast.
The EPA has made the plater's change the chemicals they use now from what they did 20 years ago and from what I hear all platers get the same review, Not as good as they once was.
Just saying is all as they could be doing a crap job too

I remember about 15-20 years back, on either the H.A.M.B, or Jalopy Journal, members, mostly from the SoCal area, bragging how much better and cheaper it was to run across the border to Mexico for much higher quality plating, EPA be damned. Then some other members posted photos of little skinny 10 year olds in back alleys and small shops, wearing nothing but shorts, covered head to toe in chrome paste, who did much of the polishing. “We don’t need no stinkin PPE”. It was sad, and you know where the chemicals went, straight into the ground. There were - and maybe still are - shops set up on this side of the border, that would simply collect parts, run them down for plating, and return them north. My conscience won’t let me do that to save a buck - and I’m not known to be soft-hearted.

Chrome on the V8 hood emblem is peeling off. That is substandard.
The prices were on the very expensive side.

How long since you got it back that it started to peeling off?
Right out of the box,, year later and it was always in the garage when not at a show or more?
If a shot time have you reached out to them?
Could be they got a bad batch of chemicals but not know it till people started having issues.
Just saying

What did they say when you called them?
If they said go scratch then I would be more than pissed!

I have no interest in calling them. They won’t get my stuff again. They had my stuff for a long time and the communication was poor. There are areas on one of the hood spears where it looks like metal was actually ground away. The hood spears weren’t pitted or damaged at all when I sent them in.
They won’t get another chance to damage my items.

It’s no use publicly complaining and bashing a company, when you won’t give them a chance to make things right. Even the best companies make mistakes, the hallmark of a good one is its willingness to make amends. If this quality/lack of quality is now par for the course in their business, or simply an anomaly, who can say? Are there consistent, similar complaints from others?

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion.
My intent here is to warn others so that they don’t have the same experience that I had.
Tell me, how would you suppose they could add back the pot metal that was ground off?

@instig8r63
I'm with you 100%.
How can a business expect to stay alive if they are sending out feeked up quality ?
I know one Thing. I am not buying any Jeep parts produced by OMIX-ADA.
I have sent them my concerns of the Sheet they produce and cannot be used. They have done nothing to make it right because there is a new client every day who will order the crappy components they produce.
A respectable business won't allow sub-standard components to be shipped out. _ _ _ I'm pissed.
Also, I make my own Omlets.

Ok I can see why you would not reach out to them if they failed thru the whole ordeal from the start.
I think if you added this part to the first post so we knew the whole story then I would not have said what I did.
Sorry to hear it turned out bad and they messed up the parts.
I would think a "good shop" could add the metal back and replate just going to take more hard earned money
Good luck

Thanks again for posting this. The disappointment hurts - not only in the pocketbook but in the building trust and good character departments too. Seems like the expectation to work with trustworthy people in this hobby and industry at times, can be a letdown.
You do your best with good intentions - and if others can’t live up to the same - it’s their reputation that suffers and should be shared with others to avoid the pitfall. Unfortunately that is a lesson experienced by you, me, and others that stumble into bad character from time to time. I’m sure if you called them you will get excuses, justifications and or more misery dealing with them. Cut them off, chalk it up to another unwanted lesson learned. I hope you get it right through another shop and forget about it in time. Not worth the aggravation.
