So my truck is currently at ford getting the motor replaced under warranty at 91,xxx. Cylinder wall of #4 started to crack letting the engine hydro lock on coolant.
they are saying the engine is in back order with no ETA. I’ve basically got a useless truck for who knows how long and they refuse to provide me with a loaner. Any way to figure out how long a product will take to get that’s listed no eta? Even a ball park?
Are they even building any more new 6.7's from that generation???
Current engine has been redesigned, block, heads, everything is different.
I'm sure all current production of engines is dedicated to new trucks.
I would get after them to get a reman engine going for you.
No, but it's a 5 year old truck with nearly 100k miles....did you really expect a free loaner?
it’s a ford in house heavy duty diesel motor that is still under warranty. I don’t think the guy would even mention loaners if the warranty was doing its thing.

I'd argue that the 6.7 in a 350 and under is a medium duty, but that's besides the point. Frankly, loaners are a thing of the past.

whatever duty you want to label it, that motor was used up until the ‘19 model year. If ford can’t even supply warranty repair for their flagship truck motor that was used just three years ago, perhaps they need to pause and think about customer support before laying off thousands of workers and drain profit from their ICE division as fast as they can to crank out EVs that few can buy.

This will probably be the new trend in ICE vehicles. Provide minimal warranty support to force you toward something they will flood with exceptional support....ev.
You will most likely get a 2022 motor with all the upgraded pistons, etc. Motor has significant changes, but in a way basically the same, it will fit right in your truck, and hook right up. It will just use your 17 model computer settings. Take it your getting a long block if so it should come with everything but injectors, turbo, alternator, and egr.

No way, I guarantee you 100% this will not happen.
I would trade it in somehow the way it is with the dealer and pick up a new one as I need one for work all week long but the market seems to be screwed up now to try to do that I see.

No, a 2022 engine won't work with 2019 computer, too many differences that are computer controlled.
Only hope will be a reman 2019 engine.
@bradleymeleg3345 If I were you, I would be calling Ford customer care and complaining, and would keep calling every day until you get some action.

Ford is absolutely still making 2017-19 motors and components, or at least their OEMs are. There are hundreds of thousands in service that will need parts, rebuilds, etc, and you plan for that as a manufacturer. You can still buy a crate 460, albeit an expensive one. You'll get a motor that matches what your truck has but it won't be on your timeframe.
As far as loaners, they're absolutely still a thing. A friend of mine has his 2017 F150 EcoBoost at the dealer for cam phaser service, 2 weeks minimum. They gave him a 2022 F150 loaner at no charge. The dealer you went through probably refused the loaner because they don't know when they'll get the motor and don't want to tie up a loaner for months.
