I'd try to get a real HPOP pressure reading while cranking.

Fuel pressure is always over looked.

you’re not getting fuel. Check oil level and please stop using starting fluid. Low oil will keep the truck from starting. Is the engine oil topped off to the full mark? If no top it off then try starting.

If it’s full but still won’t start with the basics.

1. do you have enough fuel in the tank. Forget the gauge it could be stuck or broken or givecerroneous racing. Get under there bang on the tank.

are you getting power to the fuel pump. It’s on the inside of the frame rail under driver seat. Hen you turn the key on are you getting power to the pump? Yes? No.
if no then check the fuses for the fuel pump and the relay
if yes
is the fuel pump pressurizing when you turn on the key.
yes? No?
if yes …is the fuel bowl at the engine filling up with fuel
yes? No?
if yes
are you using the correct filter. I know you said you got rid of the plastic one way valve. Are you sure you removed it correctly and completely and aren’t blocking the fuel delivery at that point. Did you buy pass the fuel heater correctly.
if the bowl is filling up is the fuel coming out in the lines feeding the heads
yes ? No?
if no your issue is at the fuel bowl

your truck cranks, the injectors pulse. You’re missing fuel. At some point in the line the fuel isn’t entering the injectors.

yes the oil is full. the fuel bowl fills fast it has 1/2 tank. I need to check my fuel pressure. I'm going to do that now.

Then if that’s the case your issue is between the bowl and injectors. What was changed, done or not done? The one way valve push down valve and the heater element..correct? Make sure that’s either dine correctly or reinstall the parts or replace as needed.
you can crack the fuel line coming out from the bowl feeding the injectors and see if fuel is pumping out. If it is the problem is at the injectors. Either they aren’t getting a pulse or the harness is broken somewhere.

look on the driver side where the harness lays against the valve cover. Look at the underneath section of the harness Vibration rubs the harness and the wiring grounds out.
