Just wondering if anyone has any advice on measuring for correct length pushrods on a newly built engine. Before first start up. I've read several posts and realize that I need to check clearance at the valve stem and rocker arm with the lifter collapsed. Is this safe to do on a new engine and lifters? Before rebuilding this time it was going to be a cam and lifters change. Well that cam fell apart on break-in so I'm obviously rebuilding it. When I put the cam in just this last time I was still suspect of the pushrods that came in it because some had bent and the valve train in general sounded bad. What I did that time was use comp cam pushrod length checker and measured 0 lash and then added .050" for preload. That was the size pushrods I got. Then I read recently about how to check the length as mentioned above, taking into consideration the geometry of the valve train. Now I don't know what to do. Sounds like the ones I have currently may be too short based on the way I measured for them. Thanks for any suggestions
Yeah thats kinda where I was at. I'm just taking precautions so that I make sure everything is correct when I get it going. Thanks for the video tip. Where can I find it?
