Bumper removal difficulty

Hello all new member here!

I have a 2000 F250 4x4 and am trying to update to 08-10 front end. So far most of the parts have been easy to remove. However, the stock bumper had this aftermarket (or homemade?) push/bull bar installed. I have removed that, but it was attached to these brackets that are larger than the OEM d-ring holes in the bumper. Because the brackets are so big I am not able to remove the bumper without first removing these brackets.

Bull bar bracket

I haven’t seen anything like this. The only way I see to remove the brackets is by taking off the front 3 bolts from the leaf spring mount. The nuts for these bolts are boxed in the frame and seem to turn with bolts.

Has anyone here run into this before? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for taking your time to read.

Not welded

Thanks for your response. No, it is not welded as far as I can see. I’ve broken loose the three forward bolts on the leaf spring hangars on both sides. Now all 6 turn but will not come free. The passenger side bracket has a bit of give now. I’m having trouble getting a wrench on the nuts within the frame due to lack of access.

I’ll take more photos when I get back to my shop later. The video I have exceeds file size limitations or I’d post that.

If I remember correctly from many years ago when I replaced my stock bumper with an ARB on my 2003, those three forward bolts for the leaf spring hangers threaded into the tow loops that are showing in your picture. My guess would be that the bull bar bracket was merely designed to relocate the tow loops and if you first remove the tow loops from the bull bar brackets you will be able to access the nuts that are behind them to remove the bolts that go through the leaf spring bracket and therefore remove the bull bar bracket. You will notice that the nuts on the tow loops are welded to the loop, but it appears that the bull bar bracket nuts are not welded to the bracket.
