Ahh the original choke then, ok that makes total sense. Sorry it's my first Ford truck and it has a amazon carb on it from the PO.
Thanks for the answer!
Well, it's definitely for the electric choke now.
I did search the forum for an answer to this before and it was mentioned that it was used for the electric choke and for an anti-dieseling solenoid. It's one of those things that doesn't come up too often on the forum, so I'm not sure if many know the real answer.
I do know that my '77 F100 that has a stove choke has that plug and nothing was plugged into it. I've tapped into it on that truck to use DRLs. On my '78 Bronco it wasn't used either, but it no longer had the factory stuff on it when I got it, so who knows. I'm using it on that Bronco now to power my Holley Sniper. It's a versatile plug I guess.
The plug has two functions depending on which wire you're asking about. The W/Bk wire comes from the alternator stator connection, used to power the electric choke coil. The BL wire comes from Fuse 5 and is used to power various things per the factory wiring diagrams (Carb float bowl vent solenoid, Carb throttle emission control solenoid, etc.)
If you power your choke coil from the blue wire, it will heat the choke coil up and open the choke without the engine running (not the functionality you want). You want to use the w/bk wire so the choke coil is only active with the engine running...

Ahh! The PO did hook the choke up to the white one so i think it should be alright.
Thanks to everyone for chiming in

So quick question. mine is hooked into the Bk wire on that, it's a single wire choke. I didn't test it running but i had the key to the on acc part where the dash lights are on. I used my test light and neither wire had power, is this because it's only on when the alt is running? here is a pic of my actual setup as i received it.
The black plug is not attached on the plug side just from the loom. Should i move the wire to my ign side of my solenoid?
