Anyone swap out a solid black glass for slider? Just picked up a 18 super crew and bought a topper (after I sold my 21 350 back to dealer for more then I paid 2 years ago). Neither has a slider, topper is easy enough to swap. I have a glass shop with a used back glass to swap but he doesn’t want to do the wiring or motor mount. Anyone know if the motor mount is already in back wall of the cab before I start taking things apart? Thanks
We have the electric slider, and the number of times we've used it in 7 years is about 7 times (AKA once a year). If I wanted a moveable back glass section, I would go for the manual one in a heartbeat.
According to my glass guy the CR one won’t fit, it’s not actual size that’s needed off by about an inch. Actually used my slider on the 350 I just sold a lot for our 13 hr trips from work/home to mountain home in NC. This one would get used more with the topper on the truck for the dogs. Guess I’ll pull the back seat out and pull inside carpet off the back wall to take a look.
I Did the same with a 18 f150 we have as shop truck. Wiring was easy. I pulled the back seat out for the glass guys to install the window and access the motor Just ran the wire up to the dash under door sills popped out the adjustable pedal plate and out in a rocker switch.
my glass guy said the same thing about the cr. Doesn’t fit. 150 or super duty.
