Does anyone know if the windshields on the 73-79 ford trucks were the same???Is it possible to swap them out no matter no what the year of the two trucks
What about the back glass is it possible to swap a slider window with a solid back window???
Okay thanks my 78 F-150 has a good windshield and slider window but I'm trying to get a older truck that has a good cab on it but no windshield and solid back window. So I will need to swap them out.
the winsheilds are the same 73-79 the rear are the same 73-96 when you change out the windsheild use a spat lube and be generous with it take your time your 78 should have the lock strip type gasket pop out the lock strip loosen the rest of the rest of the gasket and gently push out the glass use your 78 gasket on the other truck there is two schools of thought on installing put the gasket on the window use a cord ithe gasket groove and put
it together as one unit or put the gasket on the truck and put the windsheild into it use a stiff piece of plastic for prying a screw drive on the edge of the glass will shatter it
Use a new gasket to avoid the possibility of leaks. A new gasket is also more flexible than an old dry one. Make sure there are no scratches in the paint under the gasket or rust will eat your truck...
Well I think I will just have somebody do it for me like a automotive window installer. One time a guy came out to install a windshield in my dad's 89 F-250 and it took him about an hour by himself pulling the old one out and popping the new one in.
