does any one have a link to a website or a pic of a 40ish crew cab? would like to build one but would like to see one first, cant find one on the net myself and am sure somebody some where has built one.
Seen a few...one in Southern California, i spoke with the guy. He actually made a 4 door truck. Took a spare cab, cut the back off, just behind the doors, did the same on the other cab, put them back to back and welded tehm together. Then chopped off the front of the rear cab, put the back on there, and welded it. The rear door window openings were made square by using parts of extra doors to do them. Looked very good, very unique. Also seen just the cab extended, use extra doors for belt line and window opening, and fab new roof to cover the extended part, was extended about 8 inches. Either way, looked very cool. I'll try to find some pix to show.
I have a magazine somewhere that this was done with a 32...i could look for it and post the scanned pics or email them to you if you think it would help...
There is a 40/41 modified into a fourdoor crew cab in a back issue of Street Rodder magazine. I think I also saw it in Classic Truck magazine. I will try to find and scan it to post soon. I remember the owner was in the armed services living in Massachusetts.
Here's some photo's you might want to look through at the Carnut Site .
Page 9 of the pre '49 has a 1937 Ford Crew Cab that's been chopped. I believe the 37's had similar cabs to the 40-41's. I would imagine the older fords like the 34 on page 30 would be much easier to work with since their cabs are more squared off.
I'd also like to see that 40/41 modified fourdoor crew cab Dan mentioned.
hey ,thanks for the replies Dan, please try and find that old issue I would like to see it. Thanks for your interst and time . Carlenee. I have seen that 37 just the other day and thought it was pretty cool but I want to build a 4 door. I cant think of any thing any cooler yhan a 40 ford pickup with a chopped top. thanks for your reply and I really enjoy this site,Bob
Now we are getting somewhere. Chop the top 3-4 inches or 4-5 and you got something. Thanks Dan,and I agree Carlene, it needs front end parts but thats the only crew cab Ive ever seen. Maybe theres more-sure want to build one. Bob
