Do Lightnings have the same fuel injectors and fuel pump as a regular F-150?

Hello everyone:

I just have a quick question. Do Ford Lightnings share the same fuel pump and fuel injectors as a 2003 F-150 Fx4?

Thanks!

same physical size yes

- the Lightnings had 42# injectors
- the N/A 5.4 had 19# injectors

It really depends on if you purchased the optional 60 gal fuel tank, then it has a dual, high/ low turbine driven (water cooled turbine) fuel delivery system, it also has special fuel filters (solid filters, with a computerized by-pass) for each injector. These are easily identified as being for the dual tank, super lightning, by their colors-they are red/white/blue, the non-dual tank injectors have a "gold leaf" appearance and have Ford in both English and Spanish in raised letters along the "up side". In either case they require a special "Frazzel nut removal tool to remove-not a job for an amateur or shade tree mechanic, as the fuel is held in the special lockout chamber under 100s of pounds of pressure, this Must be bled off prior to removal, and requires a Ford depressurizing chamber-yes the entire truck must be depressurized (tires deflated-to include the spare) otherwise when turning the Frazzel nut removal tool, there is a high chance your hand will be removed-really messy to clean up. Hope this helps. Of course some of this is being re-engineered for the 2023Lightnings, but who knows?

I have a regular cab so I dont have the 60 gallon for sure. Totally agree, 2023 Lightnings have a super complicated fuel pump. Ford says they don't have one but I think they're lying :-)

I always ran 42's in my trucks and Stangs with mafs, then I ran a 255 fuel pump. Then it's just really all about the tune for optimal performance. Or just a quick street ride!!!
