Hey Guys,
I need some advice from someone who has installed a Weiand 8012 on a 80 to 86 model 460. The instructions say not to use the front and rear cork seals that are included with the recommended Felpro gasket set. I read in other posts that just using just silicone as recommended by the installation instructions causes leaks. Should I use the seals or silicone only. Any help will be appreciated
I don't know where you got the info that just silicone leaks. Just silicone works very well and is all I use on any old school v8 from any Ford or GM. Just make sure you use brake cleaner to clean the surfaces, and put a very large bead front and rear. Let it squish out and don't disturb it. If you have any water on any of the side ports, put just a thin smear on those with your finger. Leave the fuel ports dry.
DaveF you forgot AMC motors also.
I had the rear rubber seal slip, dont know if it was when going together or at the track when the oil leak showed up but I no longer use the seals in the kit, RTV for me.
