EFI 460 Intake Gasket

The intake gasket on my EFI 460 is blown out at the back. The end pieces are only rubber gaskets so would it be possible to use RIGHT STUFF at the back?

Do you mean without doing the intake gasket? Just covering it up with RTV isnt going to stop the leak. If you are going to redo the intake gasket you can use RTV to go across the front and rear end seals. Just lay a 1/4 bead of RTV and let sit for like 5 min then put intake back on with new manifold to head gaskets.

I have the intake off right now. The front gasket still looks good but the rear gasket is in rough shape. Could I use gasket maker with the torn gasket or eliminate the gasket and use just gasket maker? The side gaskets are steel so I figured they could be reused? Maybe I should just bite the $70 bullet for the intake set?

I wouldn't trust re-using any intake gasket. It's a lot of work to re-do for what they cost. As for the end gaskets, throw them in the trash. Some sets don't even come with the end gaskets. Clean the block and intake up real good and use a nice thick bead of RTV or Right Stuff at each end. The first intake job I did I didn't get enough at the back and had to re-do it. You should see it squeeze out the back and front as you tighten the bolts. Try to set the intake straight down and not slide it as it will disturb the beads. Good luck.

Your better of changing all the gaskets, you can only use RTV on the end seals. Not as the intake gasket. 70, thats alot. Mine for a 351 is like 20 bucks. Felpro are 31 on summit. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...&autoview=sku, So im sure ur parts store is ripping you off, or something is wierd.

My intake gasket for my 351 was also only $20 but the 460 gasket actually is $70 here. I priced it at a few different places and price varied by only a few dollars.

Order the one from summit, for the 460, unless you need it asap. But id def get new gaskets while you have it apart.

I believe that I may have been misinformed while pricing the gaskets. The carbed intake gaskets were about $20 cheaper but I was told they would not work with the EFI intake. However the gaskets on Summit show they fit all years. I am now a little confused.

Carbed gaskets sould be no different, except for maybe the air system in the heads. On the 351 there is little hole in the middle of the heads for the air system, my truck doesnt have air system, so my Mr. Gaskets one just covered up the hole.

Carbed 460 heads are different; the ports are slightly relocated. Gaskets most likely will not interchange.

Thats wierd that the heads would be different. Arnt the 302/351 carbed and efi heads the same. The lower intake looks like a carbed manifold lol.

No kidding. I did a lot of research as I'm in the middle of an EFI to carb conversion on one right now. From what I gathered, the intake manifolds will bolt on, but the ports won't match. Exhaust manifolds are slightly different also.

I don't know if 302/351 heads are different or not. A search in that forum would probably tell.

I got the Mr. Gasket ones that are for carbed and efi and they lined up. So id say its the same. I hope Ford wouldnt do that and maybe 460 heads different from carb to efi. Id like to see when he goes and matches up the 2.
