I once asked a Ford instructor why engineers designed some of the bs ways they put some of these vehicles together and he told us because Ford doesn't build them to work on, they build them for ease and speed of assembly so they can keep the line moving faster.
That same sort of thinking is part of nearly everything built for the past 100+ years. Big trucks to a lesser degree exhibit a knowledge something will need replaced at some point but even so they can be time consuming nightmares to repair. Once something leaves the factory its no longer their responsibility---that's where dealers supposedly come in.
So, now the latest on this car. I had issues trying to get a charge into the AC system, the high side into the Evap would freeze up, pressure would drop on the low side, and cause cycling. Since it probably needs a new Schraeder valve on th elow side as I see a bit of weepage and no other leaks, I am thinking some moisture must have got in, but since I don't have the proper equipment to evac and vaccum the system to draw out the moisture and replace the schraeder, I told my mom she should take it to a shop that has the equipment to properly charge the system.
Well, she took the car out the other night, and told me she has COLD AC now! Figures.
Now to fix the stumbling issue which may or may not be a clogged MAF. It looks clean, but maybe a spider did something in the slot and blocked it. Has good spark, but falls on it's face and stumbles if you quickly open the throttle, but if you slowly open it the engine revs up OK. Could also be the fuel regulator, but I think that would present itself either way as it drives OK, just cant pass anyone. Replaced the TPS as it would die when first starting unless you held the pedal in a touch. Now it starts right up like it should. Was hoping tht was the full fix, but have more diagnosis to perform, and the ODBII on it is a hybrid, so not much help with codes, but will try to pull any if I can.
