Question for this forum is this: Did I hurt anything by idling the truck this long? Normally, I don't idle this long. Really, this is the only time I have ever done it for more than 5 or 10 minutes. I know I read somewhere on here that the EGT's were too cold for idling this long and thus would cause a problem. Is there anything I should know and/or do now?
Don't worry about it. I have had Company Powerstrokes that we let idle all night long often on night shift construction projects. That is where we take our breaks and lunch. It might be the only warm spot on the job. They have over 200K on them, no problems. In my personal truck I pull over and take naps at the rest stops longer than your truck ran. If it won't take that I don't need it anyway. If it won't take that they would be Sissyduty not Superduty . What you should know? By now you know it, spare key. I hav e a key hidden on my truck that would not be easy to find. I keep another ignition key in my pocket change. I did the same thing you did the other day.
