I grew up in a rural area so when I hear a train horn I automatically think train and slow down to make sure I’m not approaching a crossing. So if you blast one behind me I hope your not going to expect it to make me speed up and get out of your way. I’ll probably be doing just the opposite.
Death by train is the rather unjust penalty for failure to notice a crossing sign…
So put me in the obnoxious camp. These trucks come with horns that are plenty loud for their intended purpose. In more than 45 years of driving I’ve never wished my horn was louder.

The factory horns on my 2020 F250 and the 22 F450 were/are a joke. A Prius likely has a louder horn. I am picky about when and where I use my air horns. I don't treat them as a toy or use them for pranks.
There's this one incident I'm thinking of where I'm cruising along on the highway and an infiniti suv merges on and crosses across all lanes to the left lane.
I was gaining on him like I had no brakes and I was standing on them...
Anyhow, thats the standout experience when thinking if air horns are ever justified. But I see the perspective on the other side - nothing says a stock horn would have done worse I suppose.
Just another "hey look at me!" trend. IMO there is zero practical reason to have a train horn on a road vehicle except to **** other people off. They probably sell well with sociopaths.
"I need one because there might be protesters in the road".... please grow up.

Nah, for that use case a Ranch Hand bumper would be much more effective than a train horn

Rather than insulting others, perhaps we can all just accept that we may have different opinions. It's okay to be different and to not agree on things. Nobody is forcing you to change horns on your truck.

Are our horns really that bad? Or are the trucks just built better than the sheet metal boxes they used to be so it is quieter inside the cab now?
I’ve tapped the horn a few times when someone was drifting into my lane and they’ve always jerked back to where they were. And that’s just tapping the horn, not laying on it. It’s not like I’m driving a hard-to-see vehicle. Too many drivers out there either don’t know how to adjust their mirrors or don’t bother to look at them before lane changes. And what happened to the old “look over your shoulder” to check the blind spot before changing lanes?
I’ve seen motorcycle horns wake up folks the same way and they’re certainly no louder than our horns.
I just got a 2019 F-450 last night. In the bed is a small truck box. I opened it up and there is a compressor and air tank. My first thought, Train HORNS! Nope, don't see any, but did find it has air bags.

Problem is other cars are built as well or better than our Ford trucks. If we can't hear the horn 6 feet away from our head, what are the chances the guy we're honking at hears it 100 feet away?
I ordered a kit the other day. Where are you all mounting the button to activate them?
Put my compressor on upfitter #1 and my horn is wired into a solenoid on upfitter #2. When#2 is off my horn is the factory horn and when #2 is on it is the train horns.

would love to get specifics on how to do this setup-
