I'd like to have a set but it's way, way down on the list of desired installs on the truck...

Installing my air tank and compressor next week so I can run a line into the the bed for an air fitting if I ever need to air up or plug a tire. So since I'm already doing that I'm adding the Shocker XL horns while I'm at it. If I'm going to add something practical to use, I might as well add something impractical as well...😉. Going to put them on one of the upfitters so I can switch between using my horn as the factory horn or as the train horns.

I will be putting them on my 450 this fall. The fact that my kids want them makes me want to do it even more. I get so tired of snowflakes and soy boys delaying traffic because they are on their phones at stop lights and I'd love to send them to their safe space for a day or two 😂.

So if a deer runs out in front of you, you think a train horn is going to make him move any quicker? Good luck with that... If you want to get air or train horns, just get them but that justification is ridiculous.

Since coming to Iowa, I don't think I have ever seen as many blood stains on the road as I have here... there seems to be a lot of deer that like to play in the road. Of course, this has made me nervous... I try not to drive to much late at night (I'm usually in bed long before then anyway) but one night coming home from getting called in made me nervous... almost midnight and 30 miles of 2 lane highway in the middle of nowhere... I've also noticed that it's a common thing for people around here to say "watch out for deer" when driving at night as opposed to "see ya later." So, anyway, I am driving along, tired but trying to keep my eyes peeled for deer... I got about 2/3rds the way home and came around a turn and just a little ways in front of me I saw 2 eyes reflect my light back. It was about 10 feet off the side of the road, so I laid into my air horn and started slowing down. The deer immediately took off, thankfully away from the road, however, I continued to slow down just to make sure it didn't get a brilliant idea and decide to run back the other way! Anyway, I made it home safe... I agree, the air horn alone won't keep deer from running out in front of me, but when watching and driving slow, the air horn can certainly help!

If the wildlife is not running, you are better off to just drive by quetly. Spook them and they just run and there is about a 50% chance they will then jump right out in front of you. Best thing to do is slow down and let some other person hit them! If they are running, they have already been spooked by something and they are just running away from whatever spooked them and they don’t see a vehicle on the highway as a threat and could run right into the side of said vehicle or right into the front. Still best to slow down and let some other person hit them.

Now if you just want to have fun, mount air horns on the roof, power them from a propane bottle. That way you can light them up when you toot them and put on a show too!

If you are concerned about deer, this will serve you much better than a train horn. I drive from SoCal to Cheyenne often so I went this route. Now that they have approved picking up road kill, you don’t see many deer/elk on the side of the road these days. When I drove through Texas/Kansas/Iowa last month, many trucks had them. Out here in SoCal you rarely see a full RH bumper.

I definitely agree, they're an issue. But a regular horn will make them move just as quickly and my point was, if you're going to tag one, your time is up, the horn isn't going to be a decider. One of my friends had a deer run out into the road and literally broad sided his truck. When they get spooked, they do weird things. On dark back roads, I'll take good lighting to make sure I see the deer over a louder horn any day. Slower speeds and a good attention span for night driving is a must for sure.

Definitely had that in the plans too. Don’t need to hit a deer on vacation and be stranded waiting for repairs. When I was working for Halliburton in the oilfield we were out in Wray, CO, I was following the operator, seen a deer run right into the side of his truck. It was dark, deer was hauling’ a** across a field and popped up out the ditch. Leave early mornings in the fall/winter to go duck hunting, also prime deer time, just think sometimes if you see wildlife in advance, they hear a train horn, hopefully they turn and run the opposite direction, yeah it’s a 50/50 chance on which way they go.

I almost never honk the horn. I just go around. It serves no purpose here in NJ to blow the horn at someone who is doing there little JO deal because they know they are aholes and they do it on purpose.
Pisses them off more when you go around and ignore them.
But... I think about getting a train horn any time I see one of these "protests" blocking the road. I think watching them in convulsions trying to get out of the way might be fun.

I'm going to retract one of my previous statements. I believe there could be a place for train horns on the road now that you mention those ****** protestors that like to block roadways for us that actually have to go to work for a living!

I had Klein Horns on my 2017 F350. I'll be putting on WOLO EXPRESS PRO PLUS HORN KIT on my 2022 F350. $900 installed.

ThirdsACharm stated my opinions of air horns best.

We have big luxurious trucks. The stock horns are sad.

I don't use the horns often, but when I do, I want people to know what I am communicating.

And, how fun is it when you see a load of bored little kids on the highway give you the universal air horn signal, and you light them up?
