'94 TRANMISSION SHIFTS HARD

I've got a '94 F-150 supercab 4x4 4spd automatic w/overdrive.
I'm having trouble with the transmission shifting very hard into 2nd, I mean HARD!
The transmission has been serviced at the dealer and all they did is changed the fluid.
They also recommended that I don't change the filter Why I don't know??? This sounds stupid to me. Maybe someone can tell me why.

If anyone has any infomation on this subject please reply.
Any information or suggestions is welcome.

Thanks for your time..

'94 TRANMISSION SHIFTS HARD

Jason, I drive a 94 F150 Ext. Cab 5.0 Liter and my
trans also shifts hard into second gear..,although
it doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes it works
like nothing is wrong..,to add to it, after about
5hrs of driving it will shift out of overdrive and
shift into drive. I have not had it checked out
just due to fact that it will probably cost and
arm and a leg to fix. I rather have it break down
and find out exactly what part of trans broke. I
did how ever add a syntetic oil (Prolong), they
make an additive for trans, I did notice some
smoother shifting but did not totally fix it. I
push the trans to the limit, I fish every weekend
and pull my boat with it, I haven't had any problems. I did have another problem that went away since adding Prolong and that was low vibration when pulling my boat in drive. I had to
use overdrive and the vibration would go away. I
don't have that problem anymore and don't know if
changing the oil and filter fixed it or adding the
prolong. I have read there are some shift packages
available, mostly manufactured for RV's but also
available for pick-ups..,they claim improving hard
shifting..,cost @ 400 dollars. Well, if you fix your trans let me know what was your fix.
