Try heating with a heat gun. No water to worry about.

Heat gun is a better idea!

I usually see 10.5 ohms listed as good, but once I did see a Ford manual state a range of something like 8 to 25 ohms as ok. Which sounds absurd. So I hesitate to flatly declare that 10.5 is good and anything else is bad. A change due to heat OTOH is a common IPR failure mode.

If you end up with a new coil from Eswift's generous offer I'd love to get your old coil and mess around with it.

Finally got a chance to heat it up with heat gun,got it up to 200 degrees and had 316 ohms
