Diesel is back up to $5.99 a gallon here in Bridgewater Ma Lets Go Brandon!
Oh, it's going to get really bad soon. The US supply of Diesel is down to 25 days. When the truckers stop so will the economy. It'll make 1929 seem like a party.

Got a good chuckle out of that article just like the rest of the articles on this topic. They always mention the Biden Admin is looking at all options but yet removing the roadblocks to allow domestic production again is never in that list of all the options... $2.30 diesel and $1.79 gasoline, now I remember that from 2020.

We took a trip to Texas in 2020. Once we got south of Utah, it was not unusual to find diesel under $2.00. A number of fill-ups at 1.699 - 1.91.9. It was key in turning our 4 week 2400 mile trip into a 2-1/2 month, 9300 mile trip.
Just one example:

(It was 2.699 here at home when we left.) We got to Eastern Oregon and it dropped to 2.399 and we didn't see it that high again until we got back to Oregon.)
Gas prices are down 51 days in a row now according to Yahoo Finance/WSJ. (Actually should be 52 now since this was from yesterday) WOOHOO!!!! Who's taking the camper on a road trip?!
Unemployment is at 3.5%, it's lowest level in 50 years. 528,000 new jobs in July. So lots of people should be able to afford to put gas in their tank. We paid $3.24 today in NM, Gas Buddy shows prices as low as $3.09 in NM and $2.99 in TX and OK. Life is good!
Enjoy it while you can, it's only going to get worse.
Well here we are over a month later and it was $2.92 for regular unleaded yesterday at our local Valero, so it's continuing to get better. We filled up both cars...Thanks Biden!

I read that the price drop is due to lack of demand. My guess is nobody can afford gas now that everything else costs so much more.
Yeah I read that as well, pretty hard to believe as people aren't driving any less. However no one can really refute that statement so they can claim that's the reason regardless of whether it's true or not.

Cause and effect is debatable. The actual consumption numbers should be objective. If it's down, it's down.

Down from what? Last month, last year, the last 10 years? They can swing that statement to be true depending on the dates they're comparing. With the world slowing going back to normal post covid I find it hard to believe demand is less than it was 2 years ago or even 1 year ago due to people returning to offices, going out to eat, going out to do whatever, holidays, etc...... I was agreeing with your statement, didn't mean to start a debate over it....

You guys complaining about $5-$6 gas need to move somewhere else or sell the gas guzzler - sounds like the price of gas is too damn high where you live! It's less than $3 some places.
Also - 2-2.5 years ago was a demand crash due to pandemic shutdown of the worldwide economy, so if you expect those prices to come back you will be surely, and sorely, disappointed for all eternity. Do you think we just forgot about that????
