TAXES

I was looking at different states and want to live in a great state but don't want to pay to much in taxes as well. I found this page on Duck Duck Go.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/st...h-lowest-taxes
California is at the bottom of the list. ROFL

Don't put all your faith in that map, it's a very loose guide only. The states listed lower, a lot of them are getting money from you in other ways. Simple example, I live in MA and they get you with excise tax on your vehicles and there's no mention of that. You also have to look at personal property tax, which can vary drastically by town (which maybe you're ok with paying more locally).

Wow... I'm surprised to hear that. I was going to say I'm surprised to see Arizona in the bottom 10 in that list. We're at 8.75% for sales tax here.

Add in Property taxes and you get into a whole other ball of fun. One thing I found out though. Income tax in Wisconsin is tier based. Small rate for up to a certain income, then the next level jumps up quite a bit. I was considering selling my IL place and buying in WI since I work in WI, but then when I saw the tax rate for my income level, it wouldn't be worth it since I would be paying the same amount of taxes regardless which state I am in. IL income tax is actually rather low, but you get nailed in property taxes, in WI property taxes are rather low, but you get nailed in income. Everything else is a wash as vehicle registrations and such are pretty much the same.

I can't tell you the number of people I've met in the last ~10 years who moved here from California, but it's crazy.

And because of the all of the new folks moving in, the prices of houses have skyrocketed. Unfortunately, Texas collects a large percentage of operating revenue from said property tax. My house has gone up in value 250%...I wasn't planning on selling but 7k per year compared to 3 k a few years ago is getting ridiculous. And auto insurance here is crazy expensive.

I was looking at Texas but with what is going on at the border I had to rethink my plan. I did want to go somewhere around Waco. We now think northern Florida. Problem is that everybody is going there and it's getting crowded.
As for car insurance I pay $230 a month for 2 cars a truck and my RV. Registration is much different. 68 Mustang $150 12 Taurus SHO $250 07 GT500 270 15 F250 $550 03 Montana RV $150 Then to top it off we have smog checks at about $65 a pop. They are driving me out with all this giving money to people who don't work and sneak into our country. I am so done nere.

Yeah, everybody and their brother is moving to Florida. We pay no state income tax, property taxes aren't out of line, at least where I'm at. No ridiculous tax on personal property like vehicles, boats, RV's..... Pay your registration fees & you're done. Don't quote me but my F-350 is around $100/yr, maybe a little more. Sales tax here is 7%, all in. Homeowners can be pricy, especially if you live near the coast or in a flood zone. Auto insurance is reasonable. We pay about $400 for our 3 vehicles through State Farm and the SXS & enclosed trailer. Just bought a boat and that insurance is around $5500/yr. No annual vehicle inspections. They are steadily clearing land & building new homes. We've made a lot of money off of that phenomenon and hopefully our new residents will remember why they are coming here and don't vote us into the s-hole status. I am one of the few that was born right here. Really don't want to move anywhere else. I sure as hell wouldn't live in the Orlando area or the southeastern part of Fl. Once you get past St. Lucie County on I-95 it gets really crowded. We can carry guns and don't have to wear masks.
It's funny to read stories of all these people getting their panties in a wad because of all the new development. These are the same people that moved from NY or some other God-forsaken commie stronghold 4 or 5 years ago. They've got theirs and now act like they've been here all along and oppose the new developments. Don't know where I would go if we were to leave here.... Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Idaho?

I'm thinking you mean $550 a year? Like the old Kawa jet ski?

Tennessee is nice as is Kentucky. But I like those states you mentioned as well.

The problem I see is the people move to another state because the one they were living in went down the tube, but still vote for the same clowns that ran their state in the ditch.

No typo. Boat insurance is $5500/yr. Retirement present. Wasn’t really thinking it out when I posted that. I was just going down the list. Tennessee and Kentucky are getting a lot of imports too. I have acquaintances in both states and they say the same thing: Hope these folks remember the crappiness they are leaving.
