Is there a difference between lockers for a rear 60 and a front? I’m looking into getting one, but not sure where I should be looking. Are there any lockers that don’t cost $1000 anymore and if so, where? I never see used ones for sale, is there a place to maybe find those?
Dana 60 axles use the same carrier front and rear. The only difference is the split at 4.10/down and 4.56/up.
If you want a real locker, they are all just expensive. No deals to be had... at least that I have seen.
Looks like Amazon still has Yukon’s for $650 ish, might go that route. Reason front Dana 60 has me off is because of the high pinion. Couldn’t remember if that affected the carrier
Brian call or text me tomorrow or this weekend, I have a complete rear 1979 Dana 60 with a Detroit locker in it that I will part with. Not sure about the gear ratio though. I will try to get that ratio tomorrow.

What is a lunchbox locker? When I looked them up it was pages talking about welding spiders and that’s a no go in front.
on a side note, I picked up a LS 10.25 for the rear to replace the dying LS 10.25 that’s in it now. At least the rear will be quick and cheap, $150 for that rearend.
I looked for Aussie lockers after you told me about them, site after site said sold out. 😔
Plenty of Spartan and Lock Right lockers in stock for that axle. For the rear I would use something else other than a factory limited slip or at the very least rebuild it before you put it in, they aren't very good.
Personally,,, I would not install a LOCKER in the front Diff.
I would use a LIMITED SLIP for the front.
You probably would be very unhappy with your locker in the front due to the turning radius difference between the wheels..
There is a difference between a LOCKER and LIMITED SLIP..
Just my .02 worth.....

It's a locker not a spool, they unlock so you can turn.
My grizzly locker rarely ever unlocks when the transfercase is sending power to it id assume the detroit locker would act similar both similar to spool when power is going through them.
the grizzly doesnt make rachet sounds or anything . Its just locked.
I love it.
Im unsure if those responding with opinions actually have exsperince with lockers or limited slips.
I personaly would go full locker and gladly take the increased turning radius when in 4wd. Id also have the option to lock only 1 hub when on snowy or icy roads
Ive only had experience with one limited slip came oem in a 3500 cummins truck it never really worked. At about 350k it exsploded I replaced it with a normal open carrier.
Ill probly spool or weld the spiders on my ford front axle again because I have the option to drive only 1 tire then lock both hubs to get really stuck

The Grizzly and newer style Detroits don't make ratchet noises when they unlock. They are always locked until you turn and then if the outside tire has enough traction it will uncouple and turn faster than the carrier, it locks back up when the inside tire catches up to it.
