Where to start

Hey guys I’m starting a frame off restoration of an 86 f250 with a 351W. I got the bed off and wanting to pull the cab off so I can clean up the frame and rust proof it. Is it easier to pull the motor and pretty much strip the engine bay (radiator, brake cylinder, wiring harness etc) before removing the cab or can it be done after cab removal. I’m somewhat new to working on old trucks. I’m mechanically inclined just not a lot of experience with where to start/next steps. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to FTE.
I have to ask how will the cab be supported when you go to remove (gut) the cab?
I had mine a plastic horses and there is no way I could be leaning on the cab or pushing & pulling on things with out it falling off them.

So I gutted the cab before I pulled it off the frame. Here you can see it has been gutted and is sitting on the horses before I pull the frame out from under it.

Bag & tag everything and take pictures. If I pulled say 5 screws out of the dash they went into a baggie and marked "5 screws from dash" and maybe just were they were from on the dash. BTW I was doing this to 2 trucks. The one in the picture I was rebuilding the other was a parts truck.

Also if the cab is gutted it will be lighter to lift. I was able to lift 1 said at a time and push the horse under with my foot then run to the other side and did the same.
