I have a “chrome” gas cap on my 72 and it leaks. If I park it on a slope with more than 3/4 of a tank in my cab tank it really leaks. Am I supposed to use a vented or non-vented cap? It is a F250, with limited smog equipment if that makes any difference. Any help appreciated.
Does your in cab tank have the EVAP plumbing or not? Extra tubing on top of the tank exiting the passenger side of the cab through the floor. Easiest way to explain it. This means if it does, a non-vented cap is used as it will vent through the EVAP system, if it does not, a vented cap is used to vent to atmosphere.
On my 70 f250, it uses a vented cap. If I fill up close to the house and park on a slope, it will leak a little. I never top off on the truck because if you try to get 50 more cents in it to hit an even dollar, it will come out the filler neck. Of course the gasket on mine is rotted away as well. I think its a 52 year old gas cap.
