Greetings, just got a 56 panel as therapy for my illness (Old Fords). No motor, radiator, trans and the rear end is questionable but body is in pretty good shape. I have a couple of 289’s to work with and a C4 trans for rebuild. I’m studying motor/trans mounts and radiator/fan purchases to start build. Any thoughts on preferred methods and or product’s to complete this task? I’m thinking biscuit motor mounts and straight trans mount from Dennis Carpenters catalog but not sure of anything. I’ll post pictures as my forum skills progress. Many thanks
I used the motor mount from speedway auto in my 49 to mount my 289 and they had headers also. I made my crossmember and installed a 9 inch from a 1972 f 150
Do a thread search where it say "Threads" (search threads) with this phrase "1956 ford f100 with a 302 build" I got 11 post. 302 big brother to the 289 (and is more common).
Some info there, I only read the fourth one but had rad and engine pictures. Your job now.
Or this might work: search
Welcome to FTE
Just my 2 cents, But think twice before you remove the old rear engine crossmember. It keeps the frame rails from spreading as the cab pushes down on them.
As far as installs, it really depends on what frontend you plan to use, do you want bolt or weld in mounts. Lots of options.
When ya get a chance attach some pictures. We luv pictures.
