motor and tranny mounts

Working with 1978 F100 with 302...

I am sure the motor and trans mounts are shot...question is can I replace these without removing the engine and trans? Like just raise them up a bit?

Yes, you can replace the engine and trans mounts without removing the engine and trans.

Loosen the mount, raise the engine or trans, out with the old mount, in with the new and tighten everything.

Be sure to find a secure place to lift or jack from and be sure to secure the engine or trans while you are replacing the mounts, so they can't fall and crush anything, like your hands. I can't stress this enough. Work safely.

Be careful and watch as you raise things. Make sure the you have adequate clearances and you aren't putting things in a bind. Be especially watchful of fan to shroud or radiator clearances and of radiator hoses and trans cooler lines.

Good luck.
