I'm getting a grinding noise coming from what sounds to me like under the firewall. The sound happens when I am slighting left and slowing down at the same time. It sounds like something rotating is hitting something. Anyone know anything about that?
It definitely sounds more from the right side of the vehicle. It happens most when I'm on mountain roads but it's pretty clearly coming from the right side. That's at least where I hear it. It doesn't have any accompanying vibrations or sounds that you would get from a bearing but it could be a brake pad as you're saying what would cause it to make that sound though?
Ok, you got me confused with your initial post. If the noise is coming from the passenger side, then check that one. Maybe you lost an anti-rattle clip, maybe the spring pins that hold the caliper in place have gotten weak, maybe there's a rock stuck in a pad, it could be any number of things. A Visual inspection is free and easy.

Also check the brake dust covers or whatever they are called. They rust out, come apart and drag on the rotor.
My truck is completely rust free which is absolutely insane but now that you say that that is a likely idea because when I've had the wheels off and bumped those dust guards it did make a similar sound. Could be loose or vibrating. Thanks for the idea.
How are you body mounts? If they're getting compressed, the body can move enough during turning and breaking to allow the engine to touch the firewall, transmitting noise into the cab.
Appreciate the receptivity. I’m noting the draging and banging sound happening when turning right when the van weighs down on the right side. Also my parking brake isn’t working as well as it usually does so maybe an issue there. Thanks for letting me spitball.
