engine swap/wiring
Have a buddy trying to swap a 302 out for a 351 in an 83 Ford pick-up. Realized he has no idea what to do with all the wiring. I'm trying to get him some help and at least make it run. Can any of you guys tell us where we could find a simple wiring diagram for his truck. Needs it badly for work transportation.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!!

Do you need all the wiring??? Or just a few circuits???
Also the engines should have pretty much the same wiring connections....unless of course one is fuel injected and one isnt......

Did the original 302 distributor have a vacuum connection? If not, you have opened up a real can of worms, since with no vacuum line, that means the 302 had a computer to control the engine.
If the 302 had the electronic duraspark II dist with a vacuum line, then find a duraspark II distributor for the 351w, and it should plug right up.

Thanks much for the replies guys. Sparky, neither engine is fuel injected.
Dave, don't know about the distributors. Do know that the 351 came from a '77 vehicle. only one he could afford. Will check with him on this.
