I have an Excursion with a fully built V10 setup, and I bought the larger round diesel sized 6.8 V10 badges that are a look alive for the powerstroke badges, and i cannot find for the life of me, a template to use to line them up and put them on the truck doors.
This is a standing offer for anyone who has a truck F250 or F350 which has the badges like this, I will pay you for making me a cardboard or similar material template I can use to accurately install the badges, i have paypal.
The template should line up to the seam between the door and front fender, and the metal fold line below the badge, and if possible the fold line above the badge as well that is close to the mirror.
If someone with factory powerstroke door badges can make me the template based on theirs, that will be good enough, i am happy to toss someone a hand full of cash, looking to have this sometimes soon.
I'd just line up one side nicely, & if it really bugged me I lay some paper on it and stencil over it with the body panel edge on it for a location reference.
Take a tape measure with you and go to the largest home improvement center you can find. Be there at opening time and wait for the parade of SD's to come pulling in, ask an owner if they would allow you to measure. There was quite a post on here with owners showing measurements but can't find it in search.
Better yet, just travel to your nearest Ford dealer and take a gander at their doors. Wouldn't the badge sit at the approx. area as yours? As Reptar0077 said it can't be that difficult. Most likely someone won't even notice the slight variation in placement. We think you'll be fine.
my neighbor has an excursion 2000
MasterX, how about you take a pic of your vehicle with a cardboard mock up of where abouts you want the badge, and i will see what I can do
Just measured neighbors, the end of the Powerstroke word was 2.5 inches back from door edge bottom of the circle was 1.25 inches up from the body break line.
Eyeball a spot close to where you want it, measure off a fender/door edge and a body line and draw 2 sides of a square on the car with a colored wax pencil in a contrasting color. Apply emblem/decal using the lines for alignment. Clean off wax pencil.
Never once had anyone complain about decal/emblem placement and we had quite a few PITA customers over the years i worked there. If you're off even an 1" in either direction most people never notice it unless they're right next to another truck and even then I'd argue factory placement has a margin of error. Having an emblem/decal sitting even slightly out of square/level will be the only thing everyone sees.
