I have a 2000 f250 with the 5.4 inside of it. It’s been sitting for a year and I decided that I wanted to try and start it. But when I put a battery in it it didn’t start and we sprayed some either inside of it and it ran for a minute till I Took my foot off the gas and it died. So I put a new fuel pump in and a new battery and when I started it it started to run and got up to 600 rpm and then died and now when I turn it over it might bump up to 300 rpm but then die down and just turn over. So I wanted to know if anyone had this same problem?
New gas or old gas? Replace the fuel filter.
Check for codes.
Remove the IAC and thoroughly clean.
it’s brand new fuel I just got at the gas station and put in a 5 gallon jerry can
fuel filter was just replace before it was parked
is the iac in the intake because who ever parked it last I guess took the air filter for their truck
On my 2000 Expedition 5.4, it's on the back of the intake like the attached video. I've seen them in other locations too. If your somewhat mechanically inclined, you'll have no problem removing, cleaning, and reinstalling. Before buying a new one, give it a good cleaning with intake and throttle body cleaner.
Remove the negative battery cable and carefully remove the IAC saving the gasket. Spray intake and throttle body cleaner in the holes and let it soak, drain and soak again, then install. Many videos are available online. Good luck!
Only bummer is yours may be like this one. A little more labor intensive, but clean it just the same. Clean the intake and clean the throttle body too. Just don't use any silicone for a gasket seal.

sorry it’s been so long I had to go out of town and I couldn’t get around to doing it but I came back and tried starting it for a “what the hell maybe I’ll be lucky” reason and it does this so do you think it’s still the iac? It happened so fast then died and I didn’t touch the gas at all
After sitting for a year, how long were you able to get it to run? Maybe there is still old fuel in the line? Check the hoses for breaks or cracks including the PCV hose. Spray throttle body cleaner into the intake while you have someone try start it. Definitely check for codes. Even with a new fuel pump and filter, check the fuel pressure. Looking at the removal process, I would replace instead of cleaning the IAC. Get Hitachi brand as it's OE.

sorry it’s been so long but I’ve been doing some stuff around the house but anyways I managed to get the truck running by just bypassing the inertia switch which I thought was fine because it clicked in and everything? But oh well I have a new one on the way and that Will replace the jumper wire I have in there now but thanks for the advice I’ll still probably take out the iac because it does seem to idle a little high
