Does the emergency brake cable run under the carpet inside of the cab from the pedal to just below the gas pedal, then passing through the floor and then on the outside of the cab the rest of the way back!??!?!?
No, the EB cable exits the cab very near to the firewall and goes under the cab. Just follow the cable with your hand lifting the carpet as necessary and you will find a seal that covers the exit point. Below the cab the cable is routed with a simple clamp but is anchored with a multi-pronged thingy that snaps in easily but will confound many people trying to remove it. I used a small hose clamp to gather and compress these prongs to the point where the cable can be removed. Of course you have to first remove the nut on the long threaded adjuster and related hardware.
X2 on a small hose clamp to compress ALL the little fingers (at once) that lock the other end of the cable in the cross member where it changes from hard sheath cable to a single exposed cable. Put the clamp 1/2 way on (or 1/2 way on fingers-near end, tighten clam, compress fingers, pull cable until the front half of the fingers are in the cross member hole, remove clamp.
BTW, 77&79F250, what shop/repair manual is your attachment picture from? I have a 'Detroit Iron' CD manual, but your picture seems more helpful than what mine has in it! So I was wondering?
I got ALL my pics/attachments from years and years of being a hardcore Ford truck and FTE member. They are ALL from folks like Number Dummy, mikeo0o0o0 and many many others with some sort of CD, paperback OEM dealership maint manual, or Micro-Phish...ND still has and uses one to look up stuff.
