E4OD to C6 swap

Hello. '96 E350 C&C with 460 (335,000 miles) and E4OD with failed torque converter. My plan was to retire this truck. But I unexpectedly lost the lease on my commercial building and need this truck for 4-5 months while I build a new office; probably a total of 3-5,000 add'l miles. It would be 100% in-town driving, so I honestly do not need OD. I don't want to pay the price to over-haul the E4OD. I have access to a fresh C6 that fits a 460. (I do not know from where it started life) I can live with the CEL constantly on. Is this swap doable, and am looking for the protocol to relay to my mechanic shop. Hopefully Mark K. and Randy (rla2005) are still here. Thank you. Kirt

It's doable. The C6 is shorter so you will need a longer driveshaft. You will probably also need to relocate the transmission crossmember.

Also, remove the MLPS from the E4OD and keep it plugged into the factory harness in the "N" or "P" position, so you can start the motor (or you can find which pins to jump). Not sure what you would need to do with the shift cable to make it work. I'd say there are other members that will have some info about that.

Good luck with the swap.

Thank you. We have a driveline shop 1 hour from here. Have a quote from them at $225. How about speedometer? Can we find a way to retain that function?

The speedo shouldn't be affected.
