I've always liked F100's and finally pulled the trigger on my first classic Ford (I have had an old Plymouth for years...a family heirloom). Picked up a 62 last weekend and looking forward to learning more about my truck and old Fords!
Welcome to FTE, The best place on the internet for Ford truck fans. Although there is a forum for your unibody, there is not much activity here. You will get a lot more traction in the 61-66 forums. My first truck was a 62 unibody shortbed with a 292 V8, four speed, 3.70 gears and a flat black spray can paint job over the original Cal Trans orange. (California Dept of Transportation) We love pictures here and if you post a picture of your warranty plate, probably on the glovebox door, someone will decode it and tell you what your truck started life with. Drive em!
Welcome! I have a couple of 62's out here on the left coast... My favorite year... I also have a '64 F250. Love these trucks. Post up a pic of yours when you get a chance. There's a ton of knowledge here at FTE.
Very Nice! Looks super straight... Are you going to rub it out and leave the patina? Looks like a good candidate for that if that's your thing...
thanks! I am planning on smoothing her out and just going with a clear coat to get that look. Originally a CO truck...so just a few rust spots, not bad at all. I want something I can drive and not worry about getting a scratch. I went too far on my plymouth and I'm always afraid of getting a scratch or ding, which takes the fun out of it....lol
Thanks! Someday.... I figure I have another year or two to get it there... I started off just to lower it and do some disc brakes.... oops! Ha. I have owned the truck for about 12 years and both of my boys drove it while they were in HS... My turn now! I picked up this F250 last year to be my daily driver while I work on the '62....
