So a few years ago AMD said they were going to make shortbed bed sides then Covid and everything is slowed down. I can’t be the first on here to have received these but I hadn’t seen any pictures. If I would have I might not have been searching for a bed to reskin. These are awesome! They are complete with the inner bedsides. AMD said they were going to use 19 gauge steel just like the factory, I don’t know if that is the case but I do know they way thicker than other bedsides I’ve checked. Someone may have posted these already but just in case here are some more. 😁 Very straight.
Goodness! Did you know they were gonna have inner sides too? I guess they also have the inner arches in place between inner and outer bed sides too.
They do have those metal inner fender already welded in place, and no I didn’t expect it. When I ordered all i thought I was ordering was the outer skins, needless to say I was very surprised and happy.
Flowny, the way I understand it is that any part the AMD sells with their name on the part is made in house. However they also sell some of the typical off shore parts as well. But those are listed as X parts. Not AMD parts. I'm also curious if they'll ever make their own longbed panels since those are all X brand parts. Also curious about their inner front fenders.

I think that AMD's labeling approach is both responsible and savvy marketing. LMC, Carpenter and the rest should follow their good example.
The inner fender panel is a good case in point. I studied the images that Carpenter provided and can see that they do not have the hood hinge attachment point done correctly. There appears to be no holes or caged nuts that the hood hinge can be attached to. I actually tried corresponding with them asking for more pictures from other angles to confirm or disconfirm my suspicions. The response: nothing. They could have at least said that the customer has to fashion the hood attachment themselves. OTOH, Carpenter does identify some parts as being made in house using original Ford fixtures. AMD makes a slightly different kind of claim to be developing their own dies etc. using sophisticated 3D imaging computers. It's Caveat Emptor all of the time.
Agreed. However I will say that my experiences from what I've seen of the two companies products at several different swap meets is that while they both are very nice reproductions, DC stuff seems to be really thin. While AMD metal is more like OE thickness.
I would like to say that these are not like any others out that I have seen. I bought another brand bed side, long bed that I was going to cut down and I was only going to do the worst side of my bed. this bed side is made of 22 guage metal. The AMD bed sides are made of 19 guage just like the factory bed sides. I wasn't aware of anyone else making short bed bed sides and I sure haven't seen any others that include the inner panel as a complete side like this. I saw where you could buy the inner and outers (long bed) and assemble yourself. If you're looking for high quality short bed bed sides there is no equivalent out there, that I have seen. I'll be buying the bed floor and header panel next, I can't put this stuff on crappy beat up original, If mine were really nice I would but mine is not worthy of these.
