I have a 2019 SD with rear parking sensors in the bumper and backup camera (not 260 view). I had to replace bumper, and installed a 2021 with its own sensors. All bolted up perfectly, including wire harness for sensors. HOWEVER, sensors error and not working for some unknown reason. I have cleaned and double checked the wiring plug. When I look at the instrument panel, the Rear Park Aid is not dark and I can not toggle it on/off as I should be able to do. When putting the truck in reverse, I can see the rear view camera fine, but parking sensors not working, and after moving transmission out of park I see a truck with red? circle on the display. Any ideas how to get the rear park sensors operational again without involving a dealership?
Not sure if Forscan can help, or a trip to the dealer to have them calibrated. I asked a dealer about this as we have a shop truck they wrinkled a bumper, I was told that even using our original sensors they may need calibration. If we replaced the sensos, then they will need to be calibrated.
I'm not familiar with them needing to be calibrated, I thought they can just be removed and replaced without issue. Have you looked to see if the 2021 sensor part #'s are the same as a 2019? Do you hear them clicking when you put an ear next to them? When they are working, a soft click can be heard.
I had never heard of calibration or clicking either. More to the story, me sensors from 2019 plugged directly into my friend's 2021 without issue, worked instantly. However, not the same my direction even though plugs are the same. For the clicking, do you mean when truck in in reverse and sensors are active? I just thought these were plug & play.

Not sure if it needs to be in reverse, I would try key on, engine off, in reverse. Listen for clicking at the sensor.

Pretty sure they are always powered so you should hear the clicking with the truck on and in park when you get near each one. Putting in reverse gives you the indication/display/chime in the cab that they see something.
Most shops will say they may need programmed if any R&I is done. Not sure if that’s true or they are just doing CYA. I had a shop replace left side of my bumper due to an accident. When I got the truck back the backup alert was not working similar to what you described. They ended up sending it to Ford and they found one of the sensors was bad which shut the whole system off. Replaced sensor and it was fine. Not sure if they had damaged one of the sensors during their R&I or what happened to it while they had it.
I tried several different ways, did not hear any clicking. A correction to my earlier statement as well, my 2019 sensors/wiring harness are not working either on the 2021. Something clearly not compatible between them.
Are your original 2019 sensors and wiring harness still serviceable? Could you plug your 2019 sensors into the 2021 bumper and see if they work correctly? If they worked before the bumper was replaced then they should still work with the new bumper as long as they will mount in the new bumper.

I was wondering about that. The sensors for my 2019 say compatible 2015-2019. I assume you left your wire harness on the truck, and plugged it into the 2021 sensors. Or did you swap wiring aswell?
A few years ago, I converted all bumpers to Ranch Hand and sold my original OEM 2019 bumpers. For various reasons, I needed to put bumpers back to OEM, so I traded bumpers with my friend's 2021 because they were virtually identical - plus the RH bumpers fit his new truck as well. So, my 2019 sensor/harness went with the RH bumpers and I got his 2021 sensor/harness bumpers. Erroneously, because they plugged right in, we did not expect any issues and were trying to prevent stripping and remounting the wiring harness because that is PIA. Obviously, there is a misfit after all. His stuff is ~200 miles away at this point.
Out of curiosity, I wonder if we can simply unplug sensors only, swap them out, without messing with changing harnesses? If that would work, that is a simple fix. Retrofitting the harness is what we had been hoping to avoid with all its goofy attachments.
Easiest way I found is to remove the plastic cover, but even that is a PITA to remove as you need to get the clips out from underneath. The sensors might be swappable if the plugs are the same.
