How does back up warning system work ?
Look in your Owner's Manual for the fuse that controls the Reverse Parking Aid. Check it.
If your system is not working, inspect the sensors on the rear bumper. Look at them closely to make sure that they're not cracked, or that the lenses don't have water inside.
You can test them with the engine off, and the transmission in reverse.
ON FLAT GROUND ONLY!
First set the parking brake. Then put wheel chocks behind your rear tires. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "ON" postion, but don't start the engine. Step on the brake, and put the transmission into Reverse.
Go behind the truck - the reverse lights should be ON. Now squat down next to the bumper and position your head toward the side of the one of the sensors. Then move your head in front of a sensor (with your ear closest to the sensor. ) If the sensor is working, you should hear it click faintly each time you move in front of it.
If a sensor doesn't click, check/wiggle/clean its connector on the inside of the rear bumper. If that doesn't help, then the sensor will need to be replaced.
One other thing. It's a used truck. If none of the sensors work, the previous owner may have permanently disabled the reverse sensors by modifiying the instrument cluster... (I don't know how to fix that.)
