Just an idea

After reading the " failure to proceed " thread and the comments on people willing to help it reminded me that on the " Canadian Rodder forum " they have compiled a list and contact info of members that have registered as people willing to help . The list is only viewable - downloadable by members and is " I believe " organized into provinces . I don't know if it's something that our members would be interested in and I certainly don't have the skills to do it but I thought I'd throw it out there .

Like it. Would come in handy a lot of the time and alleviate some stress and headache.

Thinking more about this, you don’t need to be a master mechanic to help. Sometimes you just need another pair of hands, a ride, a push, a jump, a manual…

Good idea

I like it, whether it be for roadside help or project assistance.

My thoughts are even if it's for a ride or info on the best tow truck , hotel , parts supply or shop it would be great . I know I'm in the middle of nowhere but I would certainly sign up . It should be downloadable so the list could be kept in your truck .

I'm for it all the way. I'm always open to helping anyone and especially a fellow FTEr. Put me down for any assistance in the SE Wisconsin area. Somewhat mechanically inclined and have a car trailer. If nothing else I have room to store a disabled vehicle until someone can come and get it.

On my way to KY and PA in the old F-2 I knew if I had trouble on the way there was a good chance an FTEr was close by to help. All I'd have to do is post here.

I like it. Who wants to create the document? If no one else wants to, I can get it started.

Great idea. I found myself in South Jersey yesterday about 2 hours from home on my way home early from a not too local car show, bad idea really. Certainly the farthest from home ive ever been in the old truck! Started to pour and kind of got myself lost and wound up on roads I probably should not have been on- too many cars going too fast! I made it home safe but underscores the need for some good help if the occasion ever arose. Id be more than willing to help!

We could share information on what to carry or bring or have on hand to help another our in a situation.

Makes sense. This bunch of people do seem to operate more like an informal club than a forum.

I've taken part in another forum. (Retired military trucks) Also been known to shuffle parts long distances. Even helped German Shepherd Rescue move a dog or two.

The Kentucky Chapter has an "Emergency/rescue list" though it's not been updated in quite a while.

I think this is a good idea. Sometimes we need some encouragement to progress on our projects. Also it would help when we take a longer drive knowing support is available. I have met some really good people from this website.

Glad you made it home safe. What show did you go to?

I'm off the beaten path, but always willing to lend a hand to another FTE'r. You can put me on the list...

In 2001 I drove the 48 F1 from NW Montana to Northeast Ohio and back by way of Denver, Wichita, and St. Louis. A few memorable repairs along the way, but with stops and visits with FTE members/flatheaders along the way. Got to meet legends like Garrigan (Rumbleseat), Marlett, Steyr, Bentley, Paul (23T), Sopp and ran part of Route 66 with Arrowsmith who was driving his 46 sedan.
On other trips I've been privileged to meet BobJ In WI, Wayne in WA, truckdog in IL and Boomer at a car show in Lethbridge, Canada. I highly recommend road trips!

One observation - you can feel more alone with a broken down truck in the middle of the city than you do in the middle of nowhere....

I'd be part of a network like we are thinking about. I don't have a lot of knowledge or experience to contribute, but I could still provide logistical support. I'm a little off the beaten path too, but I'd be willing to travel a fair distance to help someone out that I know from the forum.

I live in a rural area, but I'm not far from I-75 and I-64. Major north/south and east/west routes.
