Back in the game. Got a good deal on a 2011 EL XLT this week for a plant truck. Doing normal maintenance checks. It had a weird hesitation/misfire feeling and finally threw a code P2270. Decided I'd look at it tomorrow but change the air filter tonight cause it needed it. Well just touching air box made the intake tube fall off of the throttle body. That might just be the source of my lean code. Whomever messed with it last over tightened when it wasn't all the way on. That and age have cut through the boot. I know the entire tube with rubber boots can be obtained. But anyone seen just the boot? Tempted to get a silicone 4x3.5" reducer boot but, it's only 1.5" long on the factory tube and I haven't found an after market boot with that taper in that length. Any option other than replacing the entire tube?
Well I was able to get it on with rubber past the barb on the throttle body side this morning. So crisis averted. But is anyone aware of something like an Air Raid M.I.T. For the expedition? Not a cold air intake, just a tube replacement. Or is stock the only option to retain the factory air filter box and MAF housing?
