I know this has been brought up MANY times and I've spent a lot of time looking but can't find my answer. I got a 2013 F250 and of course the camera went out..worked a couple of times but that's it. I went ahead and replaced the camera harness and no change. I know about the connector at the E-brake (mine does not appear to be mounted on the brake) but I can't get the connector apart. But after looking at the connector under the tailgate, camera harness connects to it, I'm probably wrong but it may be C497?? But pin 2 or 5 is missing. That's what I need to know.. which is it 2 or 5? Is it used? What's the pinout for that connector? I'm finding diagrams for 150's and newer 250's but as I read the comments each model/year is different.
I've always have had a problem to get the camera to work after it was disconnected from the wiring harness under the truck. The problem was it wasn't going into the connector all the way. What I did was apply a little dialectic grease on the outside of the tailgate wiring harness and it slide all the way in and made contact. Because the retaining clip broke I put electrical tape around it to hold it in.
Denny I got the new connector on real tight and did use some grease, but there is one pin broke or intentional left out and I don't know which. Hoping to find out if if that's my issue. If not I'll proceed to the connector on the E-brake and try to figure out how that thing comes apart!! Thanks
J
I took my 2013 apart and that pin is missing on mine so that's not the problem. But I will say again you really have to push it in there to get it to make contact.
Another thing to look at is your trailer receptacle, if you have anything plugged into it the truck automatically shuts down the camera and backup alarms. Also check for dirt and moisture in the receptacle.

Thanks Denny for looking. I'll go to the connector on the E-brake next. Trying to get up under the dash is harder these days haha. But I'll update when I do. Again thanks
OK Camera is now working!! While probing and LEARNING I thought it may have been the pigtail from the camera to the 1st connector. SO I bought a AMAZON replacement. Come to find out that cable had a different PINOUT. It's going back!!
After some more cleaning and reconnecting and putting the old one back on I could get 12V and ground ok (But I did on the replacement but different pins!) So I went ahead and bought a replacement camera from CameraSource. They said exact replacement and had a return policy and gave veterans and public service 10% off.
I ordered it Thursday and it arrived today (Saturday) so not complaints an plugged it in and it worked..
Of course the Zoom does not function and the dotted line on the guidline is a fraction off, it lines up to the side of the hitch ball not in the center but close enough. I even tried some shims under the oval but still the same.
Thanks to all that gave some hints and tips, I'm sure I'll have more soon!
