Saw on a reply another thread mentioning this locking gas cap. First couple times I used it, it threw a code. After deleting the code on the second event, it’s not given me any problems (3months). My truck is a 2021 F350 4wd, Super Cab, swb, single axle, 6.2L.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Someone always has to come with a negative comment; I don't know why. Your experience may likely help others.
Locking gas caps are great for getting your tank drilled. Kinda like locking doors on a soft top Jeep....
losing $ in fuel is cheap compared to Def, water or sugar in the tank. Why lock your vehicle at all...? they will just break a window! Why wash it when it will just get dirty again...? I don't have a locking cap on mine, but do understand why some do.

For me, the purpose of a locking gas cap is to prevent (or at least let me know if) someone wants to contaminate my fuel for a stupid prank. I only have a locking cap on our diesel truck because the entire fuel system would be big bucks and time to replace if contaminated.
I tried to siphon gas out of one of my cars because I was too lazy to go get some for my lawn mower. I couldn't get the hose past the baffles. So if I was going to steal gas from a car/truck, I'd poke a hole in the tank whether the car/truck had a locking cap or not.
Same for me… I don’t have a locking cap to keep folks from stealing it (besides, if they wanted to do that the easiest/fastest way would be to just punch a hole in the bottom) but to keep others from messing with it without me realizing it. Sometimes kids are kids and do stupid stuff, but then you also have groups going after certain types of vehicles to teach the owners lessons… anyone read about the “Tyre Extinguisher” groups going around letting all the air out of SUV tire’s… they are saving the planet by keeping the big ole vehicles off the road! And you know our big ole Super Duties get some recognition from those types too… and ESPECIALLY if it’s a diesel!
If you're going to use a locking gas cap, make sure it's the VENTED style. I have run one on every vehicle I've ever owned, always vented, and NEVER thrown a code.
That said, in the time before baffles, yes I used the cap to keep people from stealing gas. Now it's to keep people from putting crap in my tank.
Can't put one on the wife's F150 thanks to the 'capless' system.
