Hi I have an 89 7.3l idi its start hard when its hot and not at all other times. I've tried the water truck and it did nothing but I did run a jumper wire from the battery to the cold advance prong on the injection pump and it started right off. Can anyone explain this to me? The truck was originally an automatic but was converted to a standard at some point.

 

Next time it doesn't start when it's hot take the fuel filter off and see if it's full of fuel. If it's only 1/2 full then you have air intrusion.

 

I forgot to mention I have an electric fuel pump I installed .

 

Then it's definitely a good idea to check for air intrusion. You can also add clear acrylic hose up by the fuel filter and look for bubbles in the fuel.

 

Well I finally got the chance to bleed the whole system out and now it starts when it's warmed up. Thank you
