4.0 Plugs/Wires

It's about time to change the ol' plugs and wires again in my 94 Ranger 4.0. Just wondering what brand(s) everyone was using. Is there any particular combination that will increase horsepower over stock? Thanks.

There are some threads in the forum about one brand over another, techs recommending one over the other, etc. It seems most agree that you have to have a good quality premium set of wires (8 mm or better) and platinum or double platinum plugs. A lot of folks recommend Bosch plugs, my dealer recommends NGK and many folks use Motorcraft. I recently installed a set of Autolite double platinums in my '99 4.0L and had a problem until I replaced them with Bosch. I believe I had a defective plug with a hairline insulator crack or something though and don't really think I should blame the brand in general.

I used Autolite Double Platinums in my 4.0. I didn't repace the wires through due to lack of funds when I replaced them. I'll be re-replacing spark plugs soon (because of decarboning procedure), and will be putting new wires on now too. I'm also looking for suggestions on spark plug wires. My Ford dealer wants $85 for Motorcraft wires, seems pretty rediculous.
