I have a Gibson cat-back that I like, have heard good things about diablo chips and K&N makes quality intakes. Most brands are going to give you similar results, its more of a personel prefence thing.

Mandrel bent tubing keeps the full circular opening through the turns in the pipes. What is the benefit to that? More volume to allow exhaust gasses to exit without restriction.
The other type of tubing is pressure bent that flattens the pipes at turns which produces a restriction to the exhaust gasses.
In a 3" pressure bent pipe you only have 2.5 square inches of volume at the turns where as a mandrel bent pipe has 3.14 square inches of volume at the turns.
Mandrel bent pipes also reduce back pressure by up to 35% which can be good in lots of aplications.

Next: Cold air intake
Since he has an AUtomatic, it will be that way...... Have him swap his gears to 4.10's. It'll probably be a 7.5 rear end, so the 4.10's will be harder to find.
