The one you have I assume the black portion is held on with the two set screws but your mast looks like it should thread into something, not around something. Looks like a mismatch there.
I have seen some with a coil spring at the base of the mast and it slides over the nub of yours before you put on the black extension you have. An Allen screw or two holds it on. You can see that aftermarket replacement antenna mast in this thread. Looking from the front view might be the best but one side view also shows it. My one truck had one just like it on when I bought it. Might be tough to find one of these any longer, but maybe not.

The retro sound chrome base doesn't have the correct contour to fit the cowl, "unless they have redesigned them".

I just purchased the cheaper one you showed to see if I could get my radio to work. I will post the results. I am probably going to need to fab up some kind of ground for the base because my base had a little tang for a ground and it looks like it might not hold tight for a good ground.
