Hello all! I am going to attach a picture of my 2018 F150s cowl area. I purchased this very low mileage 2018 F 150 from Sunland Ford in Victorville , California on May 31 , 2022, and when I got it home in the evening, discovered the windshield was sand blasted to the point my vision was impeded when sun shone on windscreen! The dealer initially said no, it was good, and we disagreed, and I won, they agreed to replace windshield at no charge to me, and this was done on Thursday May 30, 2022!This picture is how the gasket or whatever this black piece is looks currently, and thats why I am posting this!! Is this supposed to be replaced when windshield is replaced? Is water going to migrate past this into cowl area?? Any and all input is appreciated!!! Thanks very much! Dale
That rubber is attached to the black plastic cowling. It serves no purpose other than to keep wind noise down and looks. If you want it to look better, you would need to replace those 2 pieces. Easy to do. Looks like the truck spent a lot of time out in direct sunlight which caused that rubber to deteriorate. They don't replace it when they replace the windshield. They remove those pieces, then put them back on. That's not on them in my opinion.
I was very disappointed when I saw this, when I went back to dealer to pick truck up! I hope it does not leak! Customer Service at Ford agencies seems to be a memory! Ford needs to examine KIA customer service and adjust their policies to model KIA's! Thanks for your reply! Dale
Thanks for your reply! I raised hell with dealer about the sand blasted windshield, the first night I drove into sun and could not see! I am sure I am an annoyance to Dealer, and I waited two weeks while they ordered a new windshield! I wish they would have contacted me and explained about the screwed up rubber gasket, I would have been happy to pay for it! But, this Dealer's communication skills are basic at best!! They also had to replace door stops on both driver's side doors and left grease on my Beige threshold pieces and did not reinstall trim on rear drivers side door panel!! Yes, truck spent it's first 3 or so years in Brawley, California, hot and sunny and lots of blowing dust! Thank you for your answer! Dale
That rubber isn't a seal, it just dresses the edge between the plastic cowl pieces and the glass. Just buy new cowlings and put them on yourself. They did the windshield on a used truck, and didn't have to, so they stepped up on that part.
I just noticed you're in Inyokern. Oh man, flew our private airplane into one time and it was 118 in the shade. When we opened the canopy it was like sticking your head in an oven. You guys have some serious sun down there.
