Well, hell, It's a 1985 Calidfornia emissions truck and has a different spec apparently
That changes everything
Thanks for posting that
All the federal 1985s (I'm aware of) all have a vacuum advance on them and also have a timing set at 6 degrees or so
I've never seen a 1985 truck with computer controlled spark timing (live and learn)
What induction do you have?
A VV (variable venturi) carb or fuel injection?

We get all of your rejects over here in UT
I have been working on Cali emissions vehicles Forever (1966 for me)
Your truck sounds interesting
I think I would interrogate the processor
Still live in CA?
You need that IAC on the ones that had it
Post a picture of it if you can

hey it’s an 85 mustang with cfi. I listed on my first post. Sorry, I know this is bronco forum but I’ve searched the web trying to get help on and forums for these older Ford’s. I’ve posted on mustang specific forums too

That makes more sense
Always post what you are driving
It matters not whether the forum is a match to me, maybe some of the moderators
So, that CFI will have a big stepper motor to modulate the idle speed
Some had a VOTM vacuum operated throttle modulator as well
Either way, you should try to find a new one of those and make it work
What altitude are you at? Are you still in California? Or is it just the cars calibration?

I'm in California. After some more research, I think it might be that EGR... I found a video on youtube of same car with similar idle issues and they cleaned out egr and it fixed it. Hopefully I take it off and it's very plugged up.
