Hi everybody! Lifelong Chevy guy - first time Ford owner here. My new ride is a 2019 F250 Platinum crew cab. Magnetic exterior, black leather interior. I can't believe how nice this truck is! I'm thrilled with it.
I'm trying to update the SYNC 3. The current version is 3.0. I've scanned the forum for similar issues but haven't found this exact scenario. I've tried a half dozen times to update with USB. It appears to update correctly, and I get the "remove USB" message after the update completes. I do the whole remove the USB drive, shut the truck off, open the door, get out, lock the door, wait 2 minutes to re-enter, get in and restart the truck. When I start SYNC 3, I go to settings to check the version and it still says 3.0. Nothing visually changes in any part of the SYNC 3 screens. Prior to the last attempt, I did a factory reset of the system. Same result.
After the half dozen USB attempts, I connected to a good WiFi signal and tried to do a wireless update. I let the truck scan for about 30 minutes (it was running), and it stays on the "scanning for updates" screen and never changes.
Lost soul looking for direction. Thanks! Glad to be here!
I understand that there is no way to go from SYNC 3 to SYNC 4, but I was under the impression that the latest SYNC 3 version was 3.4. My display constantly reads 3.0. I've watched several YouTube videos to check my procedures, and they all finish by showing Version 3.4 on the About SYNC screen

3.4 came in the 2020+ trucks, 17-19 came with 3.0. There is a way to change your 2019 to 3.4 but Ford does not facilitate that. The Ford Sync update does not change your version, meaning it will continue to say version 3.0, it does change the build number. The newest build is 20204 (I think). Is that what your says?
I haven't done the change myself but have seen some threads on the forums. Here is one that might give you an idea of what's involved https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ispreloading=1. I imagine there might be some 3.0 to 3.4 upgrade videos on YouTube too.
Don’t waste your time with the wireless /. OTA notice or update via SYNC 3 because it rarely works.
You never mentioned what version you downloaded on your USB drive nor where you downloaded it from.
Did you purchase it already on a USB drive?
Did you get a message on the SYNC screen saying that the update is complete because you never mentioned that.
You should go to Owner.Ford.com and register your vehicle with it’s VIN# because that’s the best way to find out the latest SYNC 3 update for your vehicle. Also, not all VIN#‘s get the update at the same time even if the model year and trim are the same.

I whole-hardly second this. I have the same truck as yours, and I have completely abandoned the “normal” updates to go with CyanLabs. Been working perfectly, I’m now on 3.4 and with the latest Nav maps. And, 3.4 looks waaay better than 3.0…
