C61 = C600 gas

D = 292 4V HD Ford Y-block gas V8

U = Louisville Assembly Plant

362391 = 1963 serial number, December 1962 production

153 = 153 inch wheelbase

L = Dark Green. Looks like a repaint or two on your truck.

C610 = C600 gas, 21,000 lbs GVWR

91B = I do not have upholstery info but this should be a "Tilt Cab--Custom" cab.

J = Clark model 250V five speed direct transmission

F2 = Two speed rear axle, probably Eaton, 15,000 lbs capacity, 6.33/8.81 ratios

No front axle code--probably for this year only optional axles were listed--'64 to '69 is that way. Figure 6,000 lbs capacity as your GVWR is 21,000 with a 15,000 rear axle.

21000 = 21,000 lbs GVWR

153 3600 = 153 certified net HP @ 3600 RPM.

11 = Boston District Sales Office. Bought "off the lot", no special order showing.

292 with a 5 & 2 was a good combo.

Beware widow maker wheels.

I am going to move you to Large Truck as you will find people who speak C series there.

That trans is direct, so it's not going to do anything for you top speed wise.

Try driving downhill only. They were built to work not speed.

I think you are talking about your 1960 F350, right?

What engine, transmission and axle, and axle ratio do you have? And what size tires?

Not to repeat the obvious, but the axle ratio is the answer.

With that T98 you have a pretty low first so you can tolerate a taller gear.

With your 5.14 and the 32 inch tires, you should turn about 3508 RPM at 65 MPH.

I think your 292 would handle that, but you'd be buying more gas and oil than you'd like.

With 4.11s, you drop to 2805 at 65 MPH, and 1726 at 40 MPH.

Go as far as you can with 3.54s and you'll see 2416 at 65 and 1487 at 40 MPH

I would consider 4.11s.

You can put different ratios etc in here or any number of other conversion formulas:

One gear seller, there are many more:

As to the F350 I can move that part of this over to the '57-'60 forum for feedback from other owners..... Let me know.
